1924 Gold Miner EncounterIt was July 12, 1924 when five gold miners just coming back from Mt. Saint Helens said that they had been awoken from rocks being thrown at the cabin that they were sleeping at for the night. Startled they looked out to see what was bugging them when they found that it was “Ape-Men” throwing the rocks. These interesting men, were estimated to be about seven feet tall. The gold miners also had reported that they threw good sized rocks over 8-12" in diameter, these were not your typical stones or pebbles.
Horrified the gold miners retaliated with gun fire. Marion Smith one of the seasoned gold miners. and the main speaker of their conflict with these “Ape-Men” had said he had shot one of the men a decent number of times but had not made the man retreat. Luckily for them they were able to survive the night without much problem and no one injured too badly. At Dawn they left the mountain unscathed. This story had interested people and got others talking about their similar experiences with “Ape-Men” in the area. People had encounters other than just those five gold miners’ others, saying that they had even seen an Ape-Man approaching a deer with a rock in its hand, and other people have reported that they have seen these monkey or Ape men running across roads. One sighting saw these ape men running across the road at an inhuman speed, his name was Richard Brown who had reported that as he was driving to the Pinewood Trailer Court and saw a giant man on the side of the road standing there standing at about six to seven feet tall, he was even able to draw a drawing of this man. After these five gold miners had come back, a team was sent out to find proof of the cabin. They wanted to prove the cabin was real and the men were not lying or insane. After a few expeditions, Ranger J.H. Huffman had said that the cabin was real and there were rocks around the cabin, but Huffman and the other Ranger William Welch were skeptical thinking that the men had most likely placed the rocks around the cabin, the only thing they had no explanation for was the fourteen-inch-long footprint found next near the cabin. So had these men lied about the encounter?, The rangers had explanations as to how the rocks got there, or did they actually encounter these “Ape-Men” after all? There is still the fourteen inch foot near that cabin that is still unexplained what do you think? Trey Geveshausen - Research Writer Sasquatch Syndicate Inc.
